Central PA Spray Foam

Spray Foam & Insulation Contractor in State College, PA

Central PA Spray Foam installs closed-cell spray foam and blown-in fiberglass insulation for homes, farms, and businesses in State College, Bellefonte, Boalsburg, Philipsburg, and the surrounding valleys, with systems chosen for serious cold-weather performance. Every project starts with a free inspection and an itemized estimate.

Insulation Built for Centre County Winters

State College and the rest of Centre County sit higher than the Susquehanna Valley towns, and winters here run long and cold. That is why we choose systems for serious cold-weather performance. A home that leaks warm air through the attic and basement all winter pays for it in heating bills, cold upstairs rooms, and ice dams along the eaves.

Most insulation only slows heat down; it doesn’t stop air. Closed-cell spray foam does both, which is why it’s our primary product. Across open attic floors, blown-in fiberglass adds depth at a lower cost. Most Centre County homes need some of each, and a free inspection shows where.

Closed-Cell Spray Foam in State College

Closed-cell foam is the product we lead with in Centre County, for reasons that matter in a cold climate:

  • R-7.1 per inch: roughly twice the R-value per inch of fiberglass, so tight spaces like rim joists and roof decks get real insulation without extra depth.
  • An air seal and a vapor barrier in one layer: warm, moist indoor air can’t reach cold surfaces and condense inside walls and roofs.
  • Added strength for the walls and roof deck it bonds to.
  • A sealed envelope that plugs the gaps mice and insects use to get in.
  • No sagging or settling, so it keeps its R-value for decades.

We spray Natural Polymers closed-cell foam on rim joists, basement and crawl space walls, roof decks, walls, and garages, to the thickness each area calls for.

Where the Heat Goes

What We Look For in Centre County Homes

Every house is different, but the heat a Centre County home loses in winter usually escapes through the same few places.

Thin, Settled Attic Insulation

Older homes often have a thin layer of old insulation and air leaks around chimneys, plumbing stacks, and light fixtures. We seal the leaks, then blow fiberglass to R-49.

Cold Upstairs Rooms

Finished attic rooms and knee walls run cold when the roof above them leaks heat. Closed-cell foam on the roof deck air-seals the space and evens out the temperature.

Bare Rim Joists & Basement Walls

Together they account for 10 to 15 percent of whole-home heating loss and many of the drafts you feel downstairs. Foam fills the irregular rim joist completely.

Rooms Over the Garage

A bedroom over an unheated garage loses heat through its floor. Foam on the garage ceiling and the rim joist under the room seals and insulates it.

Blown-In Attic Insulation for Cold Winters

In a Centre County attic, depth matters. We install Owens Corning blown-in fiberglass to R-38 or R-49, and in this climate we aim for the higher end. Loose fiberglass fills around joists, wiring, and irregular framing with no gaps, and it costs less than foam across a large open attic floor.

Before any fiberglass goes in, we seal the attic floor. Heat escaping through gaps around pipes, wiring, and top plates warms the roof deck and melts the snow, which refreezes at the cold eaves as ice dams. For many State College attics the answer is a hybrid of spray foam and blown-in: foam at the leakiest spots, fiberglass for depth.

New Construction, Farm & Commercial Work in Centre County

Building in Centre County? Bring us in during pre-construction planning. We provide written new construction insulation specifications with R-values, materials, and thicknesses for plan sets, permitting, and inspection.

Out in Penns Valley and the Nittany Valley, pole barn insulation with closed-cell foam stops the condensation that drips from cold steel in barns, post-frame shops, and equipment buildings.

For businesses, our commercial spray foam insulation covers warehouses, manufacturing facilities, offices, retail spaces, and metal buildings, with schedules planned around your operations.

How We Work

How a State College Insulation Project Works

01

1. Free Inspection

We look at the attic, basement, rim joists, and any problem rooms, and talk through what you’re noticing.

02

2. Itemized Estimate

You get a written estimate with the material, thickness, and square footage for each area, with no hidden fees.

03

3. Installation

We protect the work area, install the foam or fiberglass, and ventilate while the foam cures, following Natural Polymers’ guidance.

04

4. Walkthrough & Warranty

We walk the job with you. Our workmanship warranty covers the install, and the material warranty comes from the manufacturer.

Your Questions Answered

State College Spray Foam Questions

A good contractor inspects first and gives you a written estimate with the foam type and thickness for each area. On install day, surfaces should be clean and dry, the foam should go on in passes to the specified depth, and the space should be ventilated while it cures. Ask for the finished thickness in writing.

Yes. Insulation slows heat moving through a surface, but air leaks carry heat straight out through gaps around pipes, wiring, top plates, and rim joists. Through a Centre County winter, a leaky house loses much of its insulation's benefit. Closed-cell spray foam insulates and air-seals in one step, which is why we use it at the leakiest spots.

It depends on the area and the R-value it needs. Each inch of our closed-cell foam adds about R-7.1, so 2 inches is about R-14 and 3 inches about R-21. Rim joists and basement walls often get 2 to 3 inches, while roof decks and walls are sprayed to the R-value the space and the building code call for. Your estimate lists the thickness for each area.

It adds value mostly through what it does: lower heating and cooling bills, fewer drafts, and a tighter, drier house. It's also a documented upgrade a buyer's home inspector can see. What a buyer will pay for it varies, so we focus on the comfort and savings you'll feel while you live there.
